Comparative Analysis
Checking out local Portland real estate and property management sites
The most successful competitor sites are organized; these sites don’t have less info, they are just using organizational tools smartly. The sites are friendly and consider each user individually. Conversely, the least successful competitors try to meet all the needs at once. They do not plan out for the main tasks of each user or don’t seem to consider a user until the end of the design. It is really evident when a specific user’s needs appear tacked on at the end.
It also seems that sites use the premise that more info is better. New content on the site does help with SEO (so do localized site tags), but if it is just extra info to raise a site’s SEO it can get in the way of the main content. And all this extra info can make the site look unfocused, unprofessional, or can detract from the main features of the site if organized haphazardly.
